In an article in Spin magazines December issue titled "The New Underground: We Got This" by Brandon Soderberg with Photography from J.R. Mankoff...I remembered why I still read magazines sometimes.
The article is full of reasons to still LOVE Hip-Hop. I'm from the up and coming DMV (area & movement)...where I have been struggling to show some and prove to others that this Internet grind is something to take serious...while some are beefin' and catchin' chizzim/gizzim from ery' direction on FB/Twitter/Voxer..ect.
They could be promoting, networking, and branding whatever your hustle is.
The article is about "various key figures in the New Underground," some who I personally told people about at least a year ago, and got waved off like "yeah he can rap but, you heard that new Rick Ross?"
New forces like Big K.R.I.T. (a.k.a.t.m. The Ghost of Chad), Kendrick Lamar, and Stalley.
I'm not here to critic the article @ all...I have too many good things to say. That's the issue...as a Hip-Hop artist myself(google Jadlotian/Jadlot Dynasty) I'm just in love with this issue of Spin. It's totally RebelliousIdiotSwagg! Cause I could never get anyone in my surroundings to check it out unless the mag was a living, breathing, trappin, gun toatin', spitta with bricks of cash...Oh well. Pick up the mag it's full of album reviews in other musical genres, articles on the Alabama rap community, and OFWGKTA.
Laytamane, till then....get Hip, and Rebel!!! dats Swagg
Peace
